Off-beat live – Milan Tomášik and Il Cuore Barocco

In the performance OFF-BEAT-LIVE, the performer examines the close relationship between music and dance in the Baroque period from the point of view of a contemporary dancer. The contact of breath and musical rhythm, the movement impulses of a contemporary dancer based on baroque music, a dialogue with the roots of contemporary dance. Milan Tomášik follows the relationship of contemporary dance to rhythm, relating his inhalation and exhalation to the coded rhythmic structure of baroque music. It moves simultaneously between the external influences of dance history and the inner concentration of the dancer. The artist thus tries to discover the physical potential that would allow the moving body to step out of the known dance techniques and social ideas about the body. The performance is for the first time with live music performed by young musicians.
