Ensemble Il Cuore Barocco

Il Cuore Barocco is an ensemble of young musicians specializing in historically informed performances of Baroque and Classical music. The group performs on replicas of period instruments, employs historical tunings, and draws inspiration from original manuscripts and period music-theoretical treatises.

Founded in 2010, the ensemble has, through dedicated work, studies at foreign universities, and participation in international masterclasses, gradually established itself as a professional and respected ensemble on the early music scene. It has given numerous acclaimed performances both in Slovakia and abroad. Notable appearances include concerts within the Early Music Series of the Slovak Philharmonic, participation in the H. I. F. Biber Festival Vienna (2017), Bach for All Prague (2018), and the Olomouc Baroque Festival (2021). In Slovakia, Il Cuore Barocco has performed at festivals such as Trnava Music Spring, ARS ORGANI Nitra, Allegretto Žilina, and Konvergencie.

Since 2013, the ensemble has organized an annual summer concert series in eastern Slovakia. Among its more unusual artistic collaborations is the project OFF BEAT LIVE with dancer Milan Tomášik at the Slovak National Theater.

Il Cuore Barocco regularly collaborates with distinguished Slovak and international guest artists and soloists. Its main mission is to bring the music of past centuries to contemporary audiences in the most authentic and engaging way possible, while also fostering appreciation for lesser-known or rarely performed works.

In recent years, the ensemble has focused increasingly on French Baroque music. A major milestone in this direction is its debut CD, released in 2022, featuring works by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier — a true rarity in Slovakia’s recording landscape.
